Making things should be easy. Shaper Origin is a handheld tool that makes sure your cuts are exactly where you want them so you can focus on turning your idea into a finished product. In the past, CNC machines have been large stationary tools but with Shaper Origin you can create anywhere and turn your imagination to reality.
How Shaper Origin Works
Shaper Origin uses a visual marker system to orient itself to the workpiece. Simply apply Shaper Tape around the area to be cut and scan the surface to generate a map. Once you place your design, Origin knows what you want to cut and watches the workpiece to stay oriented. Precision motors continuously fine tune the spindle's position as you follow your design on the screen, keeping cuts precise and on track. Origin remembers its position so you can pause and resume at any time. If you move too far off course, the cutter automatically retracts leaving you with a perfect result.
How to Work with Shaper Origin
There are several ways to create with Shaper Origin. Import from the standard design software you already use, download plans from Shaper Hub or design with the tool itself with no computer required. Shaper Hub is an open source online library for sharing designs. Origin acts as a drawing tool so you can intuitively design right on the workpiece. Origin can operate anywhere, work at any scale and with a variety of materials.
